We made it!!

The flight was great. Long, but uneventful. The kids walked the aisle and watched movies, and slept very little for an11 hour flight in my opinion. We had to run to catch this flight because of a delay in our Phoenix-San Francisco leg. We booked it from one gate to another; had to cut in line to catch a bus to change terminals. There were people waving us to the gate because it was just about to close. I was running carrying Luke and thought my lungs were going to bust. Anyway, we made it and realized they held the plane because there were so many Olympic Athletes on our plane, some also late. Jennie Finch, Olympic softball pitcher and UofA alumn, and the rest of the womens team was just rows ahead of us. Also USA baseball players, synchronized swimmers, cyclists. Venezuelan and Belize athletes too; 6 time Olympic marathoner from Angola who will have the honor of carrying his country's flag in the opening ceremonies was standing by the restroom and we all got to talk to him. Chuck and Judi got their picture with many of these stars. We never saw darkness and landed in Beijing at 2 pm, 11 pm body time. But the kids were troopers and raring to go. The Beijing airport is massive and very clean and shiny. The mascots were a nice welcome. The customs process was very easy. A CBS crew interviewed me right outside of baggage claim and were surprised that we didn't have any problems with our visas. Our apartment-hotel is great. Pretty fancy with goose down comforters and big raining shower heads. Just a bit nicer than Sydney (no cockroaches yet, sorry Eric, Beth, and Barbi.) So far so good! Jessica

I still have night mares about the cockroaches in Sydney - yuck! Down comforters are much more my style!
